April Ross

April Ross has won more than one Olympic medal. She is one of a few female beach volleyball players who have done so. Alix-Klineman will compete with Ross at Tokyo in order to claim her third gold medal over the coming days. More than that though Ross is aiming to capture her very first Olympic gold. And at the age of 39, this could be her last opportunity to achieve it. However, she's confident that top honors are firmly within reach. If we play our highest or perform well, I think we can get that gold medal Ross stated on NBC Boston. Also, it's the result of luck. Ross is born in the year 1982. Costa Mesa California where she lived with her parents and sister. Ross was a competitive athlete in a variety of sports while attending Newport Harbor High School. She competed in basketball and track, in addition to her indoor volleyball achievements as a prep athlete. In the last sport, she clearly stood out. Based on her bio, she was a middle blocker and outside hitting volleyball player during her senior year at high school. Gatorade Circle of Champions named her the National Player of 1999. In 2000, the Orange County Athlete of the Month award was also won by her in volleyball. Ross and Klineman are performing their roles in 2017. However, Ross played a significant role in the world of beach volleyball prior to the pair. The fact is, she's had numerous big wins and one of them was a renowned volleyball player. From 2007 to 2013 she played with Jennifer Kessy, who is the coach she is currently. Along with Kessy Ross was awarded the World Championship in 2009, while racing on the international circuit. The pair eventually picked up a silver medal in the 2012 Olympic Games in London. They were defeated for the gold by the legendary group comprised of Misty May-Treanor as well as Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Jennings replaced May-Treanor when she announced her retirement. They won the bronze medal in beach volleyball at Rio Olympics 2016. Following high school, and for a few years before she hit the sand as a pro Ross balled out to the Trojans at USC while a collegiate. And her run at the school was a memorable one. As a freshmen in 2000, her play earned her the Pac-10 as well as NCAA Freshman-of-the-Year honors. The Trojans had the chance to make it to the Final Four with her help. During her sophomore year she was devastated by a personal setback, but she was able to be a second All-American. During her final two seasons in the Trojans team, she led them to victory by winning successive national titles. In her own way she established herself as a legend when she won the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. The award is given to the most outstanding female volleyball players at colleges across the country. Ross studied the field of international relations in USC. Margie Ross was never able to see her daughter's climb to the beach volleyball spotlight. Ross's mom died from breast carcinoma in 2001. Ross had just become sophomore at USC. She is devoted to her late parent. Margie has always been a source of inspiration to her both in and out of the water.
